Mrs Karen Austin, our new Head of School who will take up her post in September 2017, has written to our parents and carers:

Dear Parents and Carers

I feel very privileged to be appointed Head of School at River Mead, it is a wonderful school with committed teachers and hardworking pupils.

Over the last 3 years, Mrs Henderson has led the school with dedication and has been unrelenting in her efforts as Head of School, always wanting the best for the children. It will now be my challenge to continue this with equal passion, commitment, and enthusiasm, supporting the school on its continued journey of improvement.

During my teaching career of almost 20 years, I have worked in a variety of schools in a range of roles and have taught from YR to Y6. For the last three years, I have been Deputy Headteacher at Vigo Primary School, which is a very similar school to River Mead.

I am looking forward to working with everyone to give the children the best opportunities possible to achieve the highest academic standards, ensuring that their unique personalities, talents and interests are nurtured and developed to the full.

I have high expectations of the children and will continue to expect excellent behaviour, a positive attitude to learning, to arrive at school on time, be ready to learn and wearing the correct school uniform.

I very much look forward to meeting you in the near future and working in partnership with you over the coming years, to secure the best possible future for your children.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Karen Austin
